OUR HISTORY

BEGINNINGS

How It Started

In 1980, Dr. Joseph A. Mills, Jr., rededicated his life to the Lord and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Lorton, Virginia for a short period of time. He and his family later became members of Rhema Christian Center in Washington, D.C., where the foundation as a believer in the Word of God was firmly laid. While there he taught in Rhema’s Bible College. Soon after he was called to attend Faith Ministries Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. During this time Dr. Mills started a Bible study in the home of a friend that lasted for more than twelve years.

While teaching Bible study, he also attended Word of Faith Leadership and Bible Institute, graduating in 1985. After graduation, Dr. Mills began teaching an additional Bible study at Macedonia Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia, that lasted for more than eight years. In 1990, the Lord set Dr. Mills apart into the five-fold ministry as a pastor. His assignment: To assemble the people- men, women and children and the stranger and the sojourner within your towns – that they may hear and learn to (reverently) fear the Lord, and be watchful to do all that’s written therein (Deut. 31:12)

OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Joseph A. Mills, Jr.

Agapé Embassy Ministries’ first service was held on, Sunday, April 4, 1993, at the Quality Inn Hotel, 6461 Edsall Road, in Alexandria, Virginia; in attendance were sixty-five adults and children. Dr. Mills was ordained as a pastor by the International Ministerial Fellowship and also ordained by Dr. Myles Munroe of the International Third World Leaders Association.

Dr. Mills knew and understood his assignment in the earth was to teach the uncompromising, unadulterated Word of God. He embraced his calling with fervor, shepherding the ministry for over 25 years.

On March 12, 2019, Dr. Mills transitioned from this life on earth to life in heaven. He was unable to complete the dream of beginning a school for young children, yet we know he sees from heaven that the school is operating today.

We will never forget his life, legacy or the wisdom imparted to each of us. A true man of God who lived by faith and exemplified the character of Jesus. He is missed.

OUR Co-FOUNDER

Dr. Renée Mills

Dr. Renée is the co-founder of Agapé Embassy Ministries, where she faithfully served with her husband, Dr. Joseph A. Mills, Jr.  Standing side-by-side with her husband she shared in the God-given vision for Agapé Embassy Ministries to be a place that people could come and be taught the uncompromised Word of God and be built up to do the work that God had called them to.

Her desire to see women know Christ more intimately led to the creation of the Women of Noble Character Ministry which ministers to the needs of women.

Dr. Renée is spiritual mother to many in the Body of Christ, helping them in their spiritual development and life decisions.

With a doctorate degree in Biblical Studies from Friends International Christian University in Merced, California she serves as the Executive Director of the Ministry of Leaders overseeing the various ministries ensuring they operate in excellence while serving the people of God.

For three decades, Agapé has been a premier teaching ministry locally, nationally, and internationally and continues to this day.
